Frequently asked questions
Are my sessions at the same time each week?
Yes, sessions are booked on a specific, ongoing time slot -at your convenience-it is the same time slot each week or fortnight. If you find that you can no longer attend that specific time slot, please do reach out and we will work together to find an alternative.
How many sessions will I need?
This is a personal choice and there is no set answer. Most clients start with a block of 6 sessions which we revise on session 5 to allow time for both client and therapist to make an informed decision on continuing or stopping work. As an example, the lengthiest time in therapy has been 8 years-the shortest 3 months.
What happens if I can't attend a session-will you still charge me?
All cancellations require a 48 hour notice. We understand that life happens and sometimes this notice is not possible. If you have a genuine emergency there is no charge for the missed session. However, if you decide to cancel last minute and there is no urgent reason to-the session will be charged at full price to cover the time slot. For holidays and other events booked in advance-there is no charge.
Can I start with one type of counselling and move to another?
Yes, in theory we can move types of support around, to accommodate your needs. We would talk about the change in advance and work together to ensure you receive the type of support you prefer.
Are there any bulk-purchase or discounts for students?
Yes, we offer a 10% discount when booking 6 sessions in advance. We also offer a limited number of reduced rate sessions to students and can work together to establish a concessionary rate, should we need to.
Why don't you charge less for email, telephone or instant chat?
All support is valuable support-none is less important or valuable than the other, therefore all types of sessions have the same value.
